Film screening: Punished for Protesting: how family members seek justice

Shelter City Utrecht & Peace Brigades International invite you to the film screening of not one, but two short films! The focus of the evening will be on Venezuela and the 2017 protests. In the first film ‘Where Chaos Reigns’ we will follow Daniella, a young medical student who has rounded up her peers and created a paramedic group called “Green Crosses” in an effort to help those injured in the protests. In the second film, ‘Miradas de Memoria’ ten family members of victims of human rights violations during the protests, share their struggle with finding justice for their loved ones and the state violence they experienced.

Following the two short films, we will go more in-depth into the human rights and judicial situation in Venezuela in a conversation with our current Shelter City guest Neyls, human rights defender from Venezuela and part of the ALFAVIC Venezuela, a committee of family members from victims of the protests who seek justice for their loved ones. After this conversation we open the floor to our attendees for a Q&A.
